Transportation Today News reports that the USDOT is trying to make at-grade rail crossings across the county safer by requiring all states to implement rail crossing action plans. Transportation groups in Washington State have been aware of this problem for quite a while now, and even created a prioritized list of at-grade crossings with the greatest impacts and need for remediation. This prioritization process contributed to the Barker Road project and the pending Pines Road project. Read more about USDOT’s proposal at transportationtodaynews.com
