The Spokane Valley City Council will vote tonight on bicycle and pedestrian projects to submit for potential “Safe Routes to School” (SRTS) funding from the Washington State Department of Transportation. The WSDOT has allocated $8 million statewide for SRTS projects and its Pedestrian and Bicycle Grant programs.

Some of the area projects being considered include a proposed sidewalk and bike lane to Evergreen Road
Evergreen Road between Trent and Wellesley Avenue, sidewalk improvements to Progress Road and Valleyway Avenue, on Bowdish Road near Opportunity Elementary School, and along Park Road south of Mission to Broadway for Seth Woodard Elementary, to name a few.

The City even came up with a strategy they think may make their projects look better than those from other communities. The Spokane Valley News Herald has the story.
