From 2010 through 2014, Spokane
County had 24 pedestrian fatalities and 123 pedestrian serious injuries.

Because of this significant pedestrian safety issue, the Spokane County Target
Zero Task Force has received federal funding from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) to implement
Pedestrian Safety Zones to reduce pedestrian
fatalities and serious injury crashes. The money will be used to conduct a data-driven
education and enforcement campaign focusing in high pedestrian activity
areas.
