If you had to guess, which state would you say is the least expensive in which to own a car? The answer is Oregon, although many people would suspect it’s actually more expensive than many states to own a car there, based on how many people use alternative transportation.
A new study by Bankrate.com looked at the cost of repairs, insurance premiums, gas and taxes and fees in all fifty states.
In Oregon, the average annual cost of operating a car is $2,204, significantly lower than the national average. Where does Washington come in? After being told yesterday that the spark plugs for my Honda are $27 each (!!) I’d think it would be at the top of the ‘expensive’ list, but
But how long will they last? Those I got are supposed to last 60,000 miles. I remember changing spark plugs at 15,000 miles so now they last 4 times that and 1/4 the labor to install them.
Even with the $600 I have spent on repairs this year I will not come close to the Idaho average and way below the Washington average.
They told me they would last another 100,000 mile! So I guess worth the investment 🙂
