An editorial in the Spokesman-Review yesterday asks you to reconsider putting studded tires on your car this winter. The article says the tires are actually less safe in some conditions than regular snow tires, on top of the fact that they damage our roads. Here’s the story.

I agree, but they are better than most nearly bald tires I see on stuck cars in the neighborhood. Don't have to go anywhere today so won't put mine on yet, looks like this snow will be gone soon, melting fast here.
Tire upkeep seems to be one of those things that's not a priority around here, 'cause I see a lot of bald tires too. It's raining downtown now so looks like the snow will be leaving us. I'm okay with that, it's a little too early for me ๐
One of the main factors that affect the performance of studded tires is the road condition. If the road is so icy and snowy, they provide better traction.
