Areas with Amish populations are facing a new challenge. Amish bishops in many areas have
recently authorized the use of bicycles. While that adds to their transportation options and provides new opportunities for many people, it is also causing some safety problems.

In Kentucky’s Daviess County, there are around 10,000 Amish residents. While not all those people are riding bikes, a large percentage are taking to the road. That means a huge number of inexperienced riders are on the roads all of a sudden at the same time.

County officials are reaching out to the Amish community to promote bike safety events. The Washington Times Herald has more on this story.
