If you live in Ann Arbor, you can say goodbye to the Domino’s Pizza delivery guy. That’s because the pizza company is partnering with Ford to test self-driving pizza delivery cars. According to The Verge, randomly selected Domino’s customers in Ann Arbor, Michigan will soon have the option of accepting pizza deliveries from a Ford Fusion Hybrid autonomous research vehicle. Not to let you down, but there will be a driver onboard, who’s will be focusing on the last 50 feet of the customer experience. In other words- if a driverless car delivers a pizza, how does it get to the door?

Areas of focus include how willing are people to come outside to pick up their orders, the way they approach the car, and how they interact with the screen outside of the vehicle to get the food.

Those who participate in the test can track their order through a Domino’s app and will use a code to be used to unlock a “Heatwave Compartment” — a container that keeps pizzas warm in the back of the car.
