With work resuming on the Monroe/Lincoln Street Couplet, Lincoln Street will be used for two-way traffic starting Monday, March 28. Lincoln will be converted to north and southbound traffic from 4th to 7th Avenues.
Construction on the couplet this year will focus on 4th to 8th Avenues. Crews begin work on Monroe Street Monday, which will close the roadway to through traffic.
Lincoln will be converted to two-way to accommodate the traffic that will be diverted from Monroe downtown. After work on Monroe finishes over the coming months, construction will shift over to Lincoln Street. At that time, Monroe will open up to southbound traffic only (Monroe cannot be converted to two-way) and Lincoln will close. Construction on the couplet is expected to be completed in mid-July.
This year’s construction on Monroe/Lincoln is a continuation of work along the couplet from the 2015 construction season. The portion of the project that reconstructed the street from 2nd to 4th Avenues is substantially complete.
