For the final event in our 2018 Education Series, SRTC is partnering with the American Planning Association Washington Chapter (APA WA) to bring Gov. Parris Glendening to Spokane. Glendening is former Governor of Maryland and President of the Smart Growth America Leadership Institute.

He advises state and local governments on smart growth (an approach to development that encourages a mix of building types and uses, diverse housing and transportation options, development within existing neighborhoods, and community engagement), transit, and sustainability policies and practices.

Gov. Glendening will be keynote speaker of the annual APA WA conference, held in Spokane this year, on Oct. 4 and 5. The night before, he will speak at a public event on creating communities that offer choices in transportation, housing and employment. That is on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bookie, WSU Spokane,  410 E. Spokane Falls Boulevard.

This event is free and open to the public.
