More and more when I’m out in the community, I hear about trucks; People complaining that semi trucks are tying up the north south routes and slowing regular traffic. Engineers complaining that large trucks are putting stress on area roads that weren’t built for vehicles that heavy. And truck drivers and freight company owners complaining that they have a hard time getting where they need to go often because of area road, and other, conditions.
Well, Spokane County Engineering and Roads is doing something about it by developing a Truck Route map. The map is intended to facilitate truck (freight) movement through the County more efficiently. Please take a look at the map and provide any comments you may have here.
Well we need to finish the NSC and get a lot of the trucks off the streets in Spokane. As for out of town I like the routes they have picked.
Good point about the NSC @Charles. The North Spokane Corridor will make a big difference on trucks travelling north and south. While a lot of folks assumed Hillyard residents would be against the NSC because it could divide the neighborhood, many have embraced it because, among other things, it will get big trucks off Market Street. Division Street will clear up some too without the truck traffic on it.
Hillyard has been divided for 120 years by the railroad, and so replacing the railroad yard with a freeway will not bring a new barrier to Hillyard, but jobs to replace those lost when the railroad left Hillyard.
