June 1 is going to be a busy day for the local Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) office (see previous post). The WSDOT will host an open house that day so you can learn more about an upcoming State Route 904 (First Street), Mullenix to Betz Road paving project in Cheney. The top layer of asphalt on SR 904 is due for resurfacing and the project will preserve the roadway and provide a smoother ride for drivers. In addition, crews will replace 10 sidewalk ramps, as well as update traffic signals, signing, and pavement markings. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, June 19, and take about eight weeks to complete.

WSDOT staff will be on hand to provide details about the project and answer questions related to traffic control, parking concerns and pedestrian access. There will be no formal presentation, and the public is free to stop in anytime during the open house.
