Current Projects
SRTC has a variety of projects, plans and agreements that function on various cycles. As the Spokane County region’s manager of long-range transportation planning, SRTC is continually updating, maintaining and learning from regional data and studies. Learn more below about the current work at SRTC and how you can get involved.

Horizon 2050
Horizon 2050 is the federally required Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). The MTP serves as the Spokane region’s 20-year blueprint for multimodal transportation infrastructure and programs. It addresses various long-range topics including key challenges, growth projections, and planned infrastructure investments. Our current MTP is entitled Horizon 2045 and SRTC is currently updating it to create our new MTP entitled Horizon 2050. SRTC is hosting a series of workshops across the region, a public survey and is sharing information at community events along with completing a Needs Assessment that will go into the MTP.
Transportation Improvement Program
The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a four-year list of regionally significant transportation projects. It is updated annually and includes various activities like maintenance and new construction projects. Additionally, monthly amendments may be proposed and are available for public comments for 10 days.
Unified Planning Work Program
The Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) is a two-year guide for SRTC’s transportation planning activities. It outlines core functions, studies and associated financial resources. SRTC is currently in the process of updating the UPWP and will share the draft UPWP for public comment. The current UPWP terminates in June 2025.
