Spokane Regional Transportation Electrification Grant
In 2021 , SRTC received a $2.5 million grant from the Washington State Department of Commerce to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure throughout the Spokane Region. In partnership with Avista, and local jurisdictions, this project supports public charging, workplace charging, Spokane Transit bus charging, City of Spokane fleet charging, and charging for micro-mobility.
This initiative is helping support the Spokane community’s increase in electric vehicles and aims to make clean transportation more accessible and viable with convenient charging options. The project will be completed in December 2025.
What kind of chargers is this project installing?
-
AC Level 2 Chargers:
Ideal for workplace charging and locations where the vehicle will be parked for over an hour.
-
DC Fast Chargers:
For quicker electric refills.
Who contributed to this project?
Implementation of electric vehicle charging stations was possible due to partnerships with the City of Spokane and regional municipalities such as Spokane Valley, Airway Heights, Cheney and Liberty Lake.
The success of the grant application was thanks to collaboration with Spokane County, Spokane Tribe, Spokane Airport, Spokane Libraries, Spokane Transit Authority, Avista, University District, Urbanova and the City of Spokane’s Fleets and Parks department.
Key to the success of the project is local utility provider Avista, who provides matching funds for the Washington State Department of Commerce’s grant at a 3:1 ratio.
