Climate & Resiliency Planning

The Spokane County region is increasingly being impacted by events fueled by climate change. As our environment evolves, SRTC works toward ensuring a resilient transportation system that can adapt to and recover after disruptive events such as wildfires. With the transportation sector accounting for more than a quarter of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States of America, SRTC also strives to lower emissions for better air quality and carbon reduction. Read below on SRTC’s efforts to prepare for and adapt to our changing climate.

SRTC Climate & Resiliency Planning

Regional Clean Transportation Coalition

This voluntary group of public, private, and academic participants tracks and supports the emergence of clean transportation technologies and low or no-emission transportation modes.

Resiliency Assessment

The Resiliency Assessment evaluates the risks of natural and human-caused disruptions to the region’s transportation system. The project produced a Resiliency Plan that offers strategies to strengthen our infrastructure and the system’s ability to withstand and recover from disasters.

Spokane Regional Transportation Electrification Grant

With this $2.5 million grant, SRTC, Avista and other local partners are working to install electric vehicle charging stations throughout Spokane County to make clean transportation more accessible.
