US 2/STEP Access Roundabout-West end of Airway Heights- Construction is starting on a new roundabout on Highway 2 just west of Craig Road. It will provide access to the new Spokane Tribe of Indians STEP casino development and add improvements at the Craig Road intersection. US 2/Francis Ave to Division Wye- Asphalt paving and sidewalk ADA improvements. Crews are paving at night. Be alert for nightly lane closures and sidewalk restrictions between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.. Daytime lane restrictions occur northbound 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and southbound 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

I-90 Eastbound/Liberty Lake Interchange- Liberty Lake Road restoration. Be alert for congestion and delays at the I-90 eastbound on and off ramps, Appleway, and Liberty Lake Road intersection.

US 195/Colfax to Spangle-Passing Lanes- Add two passing lane segments; one northbound and one southbound in the vicinity of Steptoe. Be alert for flaggers directing single-lane traffic at work locations with possible delays.  Work hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

SR 290/Mission to Sullivan Road- Asphalt paving and bridge deck repair. Through Friday, Aug. 4, Trent Avenue is reduced to one lane in each direction at the Spokane River bridge in the vicinity of Pines Road and at the railroad bridge just east of Argonne Road. Anticipate slow traffic and congestion.  Beginning Monday, August 7, from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m., mainline grinding and paving will be underway. Drivers should expect lane restrictions with slow traffic and possible congestion.

NSC-US 395/Freya Structures- Construct two mainline freeway bridges over Freya Street. Be alert for occasional traffic control at the Freya roundabouts north of the Spokane River adjacent to Greene Street between Jackson and Marietta Avenues.

SR904/Mullenix Road to Betz Road- Asphalt paving and sidewalk ADA improvements. Crews will be applying pavement markings, installing permanent signing, and performing general site cleanup.  Be alert for lane restrictions.

2th Avenue Bowdish Road to Wibur Rd.-
Sidewalk project. Full road closure daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the end of August.

Bowdish Road 12th Avenue to 8th Avenue- Sidewalk project. Full road closure daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the end of August.

Euclid Avenue between Tschirley Road and Barker Road- Road/sewer project. Round-the-clock road closure through late September.

Saltese Road, E. 16th Avenue to 24th Avenue- Street Preservation Project. Full road closure from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through late September. Detour posted.

Sullivan Road and Euclid Avenue Intersection- Reconstructing intersection with concrete. Road closed around the clock until late August. Traffic is detoured via Marietta Ave. Expect delays.

SPOKANE CITY
37th Avenue, Regal Street to Custer Street- 37th Avenue is closed between Regal Street and Ray Street; the Ray Street intersection is closed. This work is to reconstruct the road, include pavement replacement, curbs, sidewalk, bike lanes, stormwater piping, and a 36 inch water main.

Adams Street Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) 24 Project- This project will construct a 2.4 million gallon Combined Sewer Overflow Tank (CSO) tank and piping for our Cleaner River Faster Program. Here’s how this work affects traffic and parking in the area:

  • Adams Street between 1st and Sprague is reduced to one lane on the east side of the road. There is no on street parking.
  • 1st Avenue is reduced to one lane eastbound in the furthest south lane. There is no on street parking from Cedar to just short of Jefferson Street.
  • Sprague Avenue is closed to all westbound traffic from Jefferson to Cedar. Local access only will be provided for adjacent parking lots and KHQ’s parking garage. Eastbound traffic is permitted on Sprague Ave from Adams to Jefferson for local residents and KHQ employees only. No on street parking is permitted from Jefferson to Cedar Street.
  • Westbound Riverside is open to traffic and serves as the detour route for the Sprague Ave. closure.
  • Eastbound Riverside is closed from Cedar to Jefferson Street. Local access and parking is permitted via westbound Riverside.

Barnes Road from Strong Road to Phoebe Street- Strong Road from Rustle to Phoebe is closed. This project includes installation of water line, new pavement, curb, sidewalk and drainage facilities.

Bridge Avenue and Monroe Street CSO Work- This project will construct a Combined Sewer Overflow Tank (CSO) tank and piping for our Cleaner River Faster Program. Summit Blvd/Bridge Avenue is closed to traffic. Monroe is closed between College and Summit Boulevard. Summit Boulevard between Lincoln and Monroe is open and part of the detour route. Both the Post Street and Monroe Street bridges are open. Lincoln has one northbound lane open.  Lincoln southbound is closed at Broadway with local access maintained to Anthony’s restaurant and parking lots.

Division Street Gateway Project, 3rd Avenue to Spokane Falls Boulevard- This project includes electrical conduit replacement, stormwater updates, asphalt patching, curb and sidewalk replacement and landscaping. There are lane closures along the west side of Division and Browne Street from Sprague to Spokane Falls Boulevard. Residential Chip Sealing– Crews are working on Upriver Drive from Greene to Indiana Avenue, patching and crack sealing the entire width of the road. The street is closed with detours in place. The next location is Addison Street from Rowan to Wabash and Princeton to Empire. Residential Crack Sealing– Finishing Pittsburg from 34th to 29th

Street Arterial Crack Sealing- Crews are working on 3rd Avenue between Maple and Division Street.

Street Maintenance Grind and Overlay Work- Crews are working on Maxwell between Washington and Maple. Grinding on Francis Avenue from Winston Drive to 9 Mile Road continues. Traffic is limited to single lanes in both directions through this closure.

Hayford Force Main Replacement/West Plains Chlorine Injection Station– Construction has closed Hallett Road between Thomas Mallen Road and Westbow Road. A detour is in place. This project includes replacing 950-feet of PVC with 8 inch ductile iron pipe and construction of a chlorine injection station.

Liberty Park Combined Sewer Overflow Tank 33-1- Work continues with traffic impacts on 5th Ave. from Arthur to Perry and Denver and Celesta. This work is to construct a 2 million gallon Combined Sewer Overflow Tank that is part of the “It’s all about the River” program. M

onroe and Lincoln Street, Main Avenue to 2nd Avenue– Final paving is complete on Lincoln and Monroe Street between Main and 2nd Avenue. Crews are working on minor finishing touches including; permanent striping, drainage work, readjustment of parking meters and more. Drivers should expect some lane restrictions for this work. Two lanes will be maintained throughout the work, as well as east-west access through intersections.

Regal, Bemis, Shaw Pedestrian Safety Improvements– Work on this project starts Monday, August 7 at Regal and Rich, Garland and Cook, Empire and Cook and then proceeding on Cook from Empire to Bridgeport. This project includes; sidewalks, bumpouts, ADA curb ramps and signage.

Sewer Department Work- Browne Avenue between 5th and 6th Avenue will be closed starting Monday, August 7 to accommodate a new Providence Behavioral Health Center that’s under construction at the former site of the Fifth & Browne Medical Building. Traffic will be detoured to use Division and 7th Avenue.

Spokane Falls Boulevard Combined Sewer Overflow Tank (CSO 26) Project- Significant downtown traffic changes on Spokane Falls Boulevard and Lincoln Street are in place to accommodate construction of a 2.2 million-gallon concrete CSO tank across from the Downtown Library:

  • Spokane Falls Boulevard from Lincoln to Monroe is closed to traffic.
  • Lincoln Street from Spokane Falls Boulevard to Main is open with traffic now redirected southbound. Lincoln will serve as the detour route for traffic coming from the River Park Square garage and Spokane Falls Boulevard for this phase of the project which is expected to be completed mid-2018.  Lincoln has two lanes of traffic, and drivers will be required to go east or west at Main Avenue.

Beginning Monday, August 7 crews will work on the main CSO 26 bypass. The overall completion of this work is estimated for Monday, August 21. During this bypass, for public safety the right hand lane on Spokane Falls Boulevard will be closed around the corner of Lincoln St. This closure starts Tuesday, August 8 and run through Sunday, August 20.

Spokane Falls Boulevard, Riverfront Park Construction- Sidewalk detours: the north side of the Spokane Falls Blvd. sidewalk from Howard to Post, and east side of Post St. sidewalk from Spokane Falls Blvd. to Parking Lot 6 before the Post St. Bridge. Detour routes and signage are in place.

  • The right lane along Spokane Falls Blvd. between Stevens and Wall Street is closed for construction access.
  • The South Howard Street Bridge – the pedestrian and bicycle bridge just north of the Rotary Fountain off Spokane Falls Blvd. at Howard Street. – remains under construction through fall 2017.

Sprague Avenue, Helena Street to Stone Street- Phase I of this project, Sprague Avenue between Altamont to Napa is now open to traffic. Crews are focusing on phase II, Sprague just west of Napa to just west of Helena. Work for this project includes a full street reconstruction, partial sidewalk replacement, bumpouts, landscaping, pedestrian lighting, and utility replacement.

TJ Meenach Combined Sewer Overflow Tank, CSO I-03- Construction on this CSO tank located to the east of TJ Meenach Drive, below Northwest Boulevard continues. TJ Meenach Drive is closed from Northwest Boulevard to Pettit Drive until approximately Friday, September 15.  TJ Meenach from north of the bridge to Northwest Boulevard will be closed until late August.  This project will construct a 1.4 million gallon Combined Sewer Overflow Tank (CSO) tank and piping.

Upriver Drive Combined Sewer Overflow Tank, CSO 41- Upriver Drive is now open from west of Freya to east of Rebecca.  Rebecca remains closed from Upriver Drive to south of Ermina for work on the CSO Tank.  A detour is in place for the Centennial Trail.

WSDOT Trent Avenue (SR 290) Paving, Mission Avenue to Sullivan Road- WSDOT is working on a paving project on Trent Avenue from Mission to Sullivan Road. Starting Monday, August 7 grinding and paving will be underway. Crews will be working night shifts from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

West Plains to Spokane International Airport Connection- Work includes the installation of ductile iron water main.  The new line will provide a connection between two pressure zones including the west plains and Spokane International Airport.  The work will also provide new circulation connections at existing dead end points.  The alignment of the new water main will follow the alignment of the existing sewer main. The project boundaries are as follows: Craig Road and McFarlane Road to Hayford Road and McFarlane Road.

Geiger Boulevard from Thomas Mallen to Hayford will be closed starting Monday, August 7.

SPOKANE COUNTY Monroe Street Improvements, Francis to Greta- Removing/abandoning existing drainage structures, installing catch basins, pipe, sidewalk, curb, reconstructing a traffic signal, asphalt grind, repair and repave. Road closed through the end of August with a detour in place.

Ritchey Road Bridge– Removal of the existing bridge and replace with new structure. Bridge is open, crews still working on the shoulders of the road, so there will be possible delays.

Trails Road from Hayford to Old Trails- Grind existing asphalt, add turn lane at Flint Road, paving, and striping. During Daytime hours road will be one lane with a pilot car through the end of August.

Southridge Frontage Improvements, 29th from Havana Street to Custer Lane– Rock excavation, stormwater improvements, road widening, sidewalks. Road closed through August 14.

Thomas Mallen Road from Hallett Road to Aero Road- Road closed through August 12 for plat improvements.
