Horay for Hillyard!! Hillyard was a transportation hub since 1892 until the Burlington Northern closed up the shops and left Hillyard, so the money to rebuild and modernize and add a new transportation hub will really help Hillyard if it can survive a year or more of construction.
This is really important to the area, especially because the residents are worried that the construction of the North Spokane Corridor will be disruptive to the Hillyard community. Hopefully these new construction projects will help bring people together and back into the ‘heart’ of Hillyard.
Thursday night the Hillyard Steering committee will add even more money to help Hillyard come back. The Steering Committee has about $175,000 in CD funds to go to Hillyard projects and will be available next July. The meeting is at the NE Community center at 7 and is open to the public.
