The eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 will be closed for a few hours late tonight (Tuesday, June 13) into early tomorrow morning. Beginning about 11 p.m. until as late as 4 a.m. Wednesday, all traffic on eastbound I-90 in downtown Spokane will be detoured onto the adjacent city streets. Eastbound traffic will be routed off the freeway at the Maple/Walnut Street exit, travel through downtown on Third Avenue for approximately 3 miles, then reenter eastbound I-90 at Altamont Street. In addition, the eastbound Monroe Street on-ramp and eastbound US 2-Division Street/Browne Street on-ramp will be closed.
All westbound lanes and ramps will remain open.
Drivers on eastbound I-90 and adjacent city streets should be prepared for slow and stopped traffic, heavy congestion, and delays during this period.
This closure will allow crews to finish the eastbound expansion joint repairs near Stevens Street and Division Street in just a few hours in one efficient operation.
On eastbound I-90 near the Hamilton Interchange, construction, lane restrictions, and ramp closures will remain until about June 21.
