The University District Gateway Bridge will soon become a reality. According to the City of Spokane website, construction starts on the bike and pedestrian bridge that will connect the U-District to east Sprague next Monday, March 13. Initial work will involve clearing the site. Traffic restrictions on Martin Luther King Jr. Way adjacent to the project are anticipated periodically throughout the work, which will continue into 2018.

The bridge will allow people to walk or bike to classes, to jobs and businesses, rather than having to go several blocks out of their way in either direction to cross the railroad tracks.
