It sounds like a dream but it’s not- the commuter bike of the future will count calories as you pedal, play music, and use a solar-powered motor when you get tired.
Olympic cyclist Chris Boardman has designed a bike that includes an ‘unbreakable’ locking device that allows only the owner to open it via fingerprint recognition, spoke-less wheels that make the bike more aerodynamic, and puncture-proof self-inflating tires.
Here’s more on the bike we could all be riding in a couple years.
Hardly the bike of the future for the common person. It looks like an expensive toy that can't be repaired at a reasonable cost and so will be discarded, just like many of the neat technological gadgets we've seen over the years.
You're probably right Hank. It will be cool at first but the novelty will wear off the first time you have to pay $1000 to replace a tire. The guys riding that thing will lap me on my Huffy with a bent back wheel in 2025 🙂
Man, if it's hot pink or ORANGE, it may just be irresistable. I would have to name it popCYCLE Space CooTeR.
