SRTC is looking for input from the public on an amendment to the 2018-2021 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) that would add three new projects and change the details of one project already in the program.

The TIP is a document that identifies projects and programs to be undertaken or constructed during the upcoming four years. It includes project names and descriptions, the jurisdiction sponsoring them, funding attached to each, and the funding source (local, state or federal funds). The TIP is amended throughout the year as SRTC’s member jurisdictions have projects to add, change, or remove from the program; often as funding becomes available or projects move toward being construction-ready.

This month’s proposed amendment includes:

  • Spokane Street Preservation- North- The change to this City of Spokane project will extend the Sprague project limits to Helena (from Ivory) and increase funding for the construction phase and the total project cost by $448,171.
  • Geiger Boulevard- This new Spokane County project will reconstruct and widen the road to three lanes, paved shoulders, curb and gutter. A pathway will be constructed on the north side of the road for pedestrians and bicycles. This is the preliminary engineering phase of the project.
  • Airport Drive-Spotted Road Interchange and Realignment- This new Spokane International Airport project will construct an interchange at Spotted Road and Airport Drive and realign Spotted from Airport Drive to Flightline Blvd. This is the project’s preliminary engineering phase.
  • Walk Bike Bus Millwood- This new project to the 2018 TIP, proposed by the Spokane Regional Health District, was previously in the 2017 TIP. The amendment will add the construction phase of this project. Walk Bike Bus Millwood is an individual marketing program designed to encourage residents of a targeted area to use modes of transportation other than driving alone.

Detailed information on the projects proposed for amendment is in the attached image and  at https://www.srtc.org/transportation-improvement-program/ (scroll down to “TIP Amendments”). More information on the 2018-2021 Transportation Improvement Program can be found there as well.
