COMMUNITY VISIONING PROCESSING

Spokane Regional Transportation Council, in partnership with local jurisdictions and various community partners, will begin a 'Visioning Process' in early 2010 in order to develop a Unified Regional Transportation Vision. The goal is to come up with a product or report, and an implementation plan, that describes the desired attributes of a fully integrated, multimodal transportation system to be developed over the next 30-50 years.

The Visioning Process will look at all modes of transportation-transit, bicycling, walking, personal vehicles, freight, etc.- within Spokane County, as well as how they contribute and interact with each other and economic development.

Existing studies and projects (such as the Metropolitan Transportation Plan, the Spokane Regional Bike Plan, the Spokane Regional Pedestrian Plan, and the Spokane County Coordinated Public Transit- Human Services Transportation Plan) will be examined to determine how they can work together to serve the long-term vision.

The Visioning Process will include extensive public input. If you are interested in being involved, please email your name and contact information, especially your email address, to contact.srtc@srtc.org with a note saying you would like to be involved in and kept up-to-date on the Visioning Process.

Here's where we are in the Visioning process:

A consultant will be hired to conduct and oversee the Visioning Process. A request for proposals from interested firms was put out in November of 2009. Eight consulting firms submitted proposals. Those proposals were ranked by the Visioning Process Selection Committee, who came up with two top submittals. The firms that submitted those proposals will be interviewed the first week of February and a firm selected soon after that.

Here are the eight firms that submitted proposals and how they ranked:

MIG 1 93.06
Glatting Jackson 2 82.79

Louis Berger 4 79.40
